Many of you know one of the perks or benefits to blogging is swapping. I am sure that it has roots long pre-dating the invention of the internet, but oh, has the past time soared to new heights since the dawning of the blog. I have to say, I love swaps. I often times join too many, or have to turn some down, because I was greedy and thought I had more time for them than I really do. But I always thoroughly enjoy the process of meeting new people and creating something from my heart for them. So, here I am once again, posting to you about a swap I was in. My friend, the lovely Miss Natasha Burns recently hosted a "Cuff Swap". The premise being to make a fabric adorned bracelet type cuff suitable for wearing, preferably in a vintage fashion. I was paired with the beautiful Carol Spinkski. I knew I would have a fun time creating for her, for I very much appreciate her sense of style. In fact, I adore it! So, without further ado, her is the cuff I managed to make for Miss Spinkski...
I used vintage lace, and ruffled it to an elastic band as my base. I added a sweet white crocheted circle and a vintage pearl brooch to the center, et voila! A fabric cuff! I decided not to go too far over the foofy edge ( although as you can clearly see, there is some major foof still goin' on)since Miss Carol is not overly foofy. I hope this isn't overload for you Carol!
I decided since I was able to make the cuff so quickly and with limited ingredients, that I ought go one step further and make an accoutrement to the cuff. I ended up fashioning a matching necklace out of some old jewelery to go along with the ensemble.
I have packaged it up all pretty (A must!) and it is making its way across the country as I type.
Thanks Natasha and Carol, I loved this swap!
Now, before I go today, I must share my amazing and appropriate garage sale find from this past week. I believe I have posted before that I have a difficult time finding things that are mini donkeys, so what should I run across at a barn sale but this cutie patootie!?!!?!?
A wood and paper cutout of a mini donkey just about exactly Churro's life size! I am thinking it was perhaps part of a nativity display, but I saw no baby Jesus, Wise-men or other cutouts to prove this theory. Maybe someone else just had a mini donkey and wanted a wood cutout to put by their front door. However, I really cannot quite fathom there being another person as wack-a-do as me who would want to do such a thing! Anyway, my little donkey cutout now greets everyone as they approach the front door!
Isn't he darling?
Have a happy day......
xoxo, Tiffany
