Strolling through the garden, then sitting down to enjoy the flowers and view with a glass of iced tea is one of my favorite things to do. Especially after a long day working out in the yard, it is peaceful to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. I think one of the the best things you can own is your own little piece of land, to work with and beautify however small or large it may be. To grow things to enjoy, and to share your land with others be them of the human variety, or animal. It was pointed out to me one day by a friend that I had forgotten to introduce you to a member of the farm. So, camera in hand, I decide to bring Marshmallow out of his hutch, so I could accomplish a photo shoot with him, all the while still enjoying the garden. If you have ever tried to photograph animals, you know how hard it is to get a good shot. They are very unwilling to cooperate. I thought I would get creative with him, but he really wasn't liking being a part of the photo shoot. He just kept hopping up to me, to check out the camera.
He looks like a killer bunny instead of the sweet little fluff ball he truly is.
After checking out the camera, he decided he would put up with me taking his photo in various places, at least for a little while.
I got him into this little bird cage, and took his photo. Then I tried to get him out. I am not sure why he went in so easily, but I had one heck of a time getting him back out of the cage!
He eventually did get out of there, and I decided to give him a break from the photo shoot, and take a few pictures of other stuff, so he wouldn't be too mad at me.
Since the flowers didn't hop around, I figured it would be a lot easier to take photos of them. I have been enjoying the peonies and roses, cutting bouquets and placing them around the house and on the porch.
I love them sitting with this little toy cash machine, it's rusty pink color and black and white numbers look so pretty with the vibrant peonies.
I have been working on a line of note cards recently, and really liked these roses for the front. Many people mistake them for peonies themselves, but they are actually a David Austin rose called "Queen of Sweden". Here is a preview of the note card...
It was beginning to get late at this point, and my journey through the garden began to shimmer with the sunset.
Churro was looking like he was about asleep, the warm sun still on his back.
I snagged a few shots of my pile of old windows and bike before the sun set completely. It is amazing how good you can make a pile of crap look if you stage it right. I think that is how I get away with having so much crap. If you just had a bunch of busted up windows and tools laying by your back door, people would think you lived at the county dump. But display your crap right, and it looks pretty good, huh?
Lexi had the great idea to get one last photo in with the bunny before he was put to bed for the night. I grabbed the peonies.....
And she grabbed Marshmallow....
Don't worry, we rewarded him handsomely with edible treats from the garden before bed, for putting up with our photo shoot of him!
It was a lovely evening in my shabby little garden....
xoxo, Tiffany
