It's 6:30am, and a beautiful morning for this fancy farmgirl. The coffee is brewing, the children are stiring and the house is slowly coming alive. After the first few hot sips of java, it's time to make the bed.
The kitchen is now bustling. Lexi chomps on a banana and Sasha giggles to Seasame Street. My heart sings.
The first bus arrives early, the second allows time to finish singing the Rubber Ducky song.
Sasha wears her "Hollywoods" aka her hot pink sparkle sunglasses. She loves them so much. I love her so much.
The house begins to settle, as the farm picks up speed. A loud bray comes from the paddock. There is another breakfast to get ready.
The chickens are first up.
Already off the roost, they are ready to start combing the field. They wait by the gate for me to come.
The pony and donkey are anxious for my arrival too. It's out of the paddock and to the meadow for them. The grass is luscious and long, Churro looks so cute in the buttercup.
He follows me like a puppy, grabbing bites to eat along the way.
Toby Pony bats his long eyelashes at me and trots off to the back part of the field to stake his claim for the day.
A few last chores and the ponies are done. Fill the water trough to the brim with sparkling fresh water, it's going to be a hot day and the horses will surely need a cool drink...
Hang the leads on the fence, not to be lost, to bring the ponies back to the barn tonight.
Dazy has followed in every footstep throughout the morning and is happy that I can now throw the ball for her.
She retrieves it once and settles on laying down to chew instead of chase. It's the St. Bernard way.
Now that the children and animals have their morning routine completed, it's time to tend to the garden. The pumpkins grow so much everyday, they need the most water. The hose gets drug to the patch as it leaks all over my feet. The cold water feels good. The pumpkins have grown overnight and are looking great.
The seedlings in the kitchen garden are sure to need a good soaking this morning as well. I head to that garden next.
I finish up the watering and wander about to see what flowers to cut this morning to make a bouquet. I settle on some snowball viburnum and grab an old aqua Ball Jar for my vase. The white puffs are nice contrast to the aqua glass.
At first I place them on the table on the porch, but then decide to put them out by the chicken coop for now, so I can enjoy them while I go about my day in the garden.
I think I will leave them there until evening, then bring them in. I like how they look by the coop.
The morning chores are wrapping up as I decide what is next on the to do list. I think I'll weed the blueberry patch. That's how this fancy farmgirl is going to spend the rest of her morning. After I go refill my coffee cup of course!
How do you spend your mornings?
xoxo, Tiffany
