Queen of Pretty

 

Recently a dear friend of mine, Heather of Pretty Petals and I participated in a one on one swap.  Heather  , the queen of pretty herself, and I really hit it off when we met at Silverbella this past year, and I asked her if we could swap crowns sometime. She happily obliged. I had such a great time creating for her, and getting to know her better. Here is the crown I made for her ~

Since we were making crowns, I added a few more themed items to her box. Firstly, this little vintage tin I altered and added trinkets to. The outside of course says "The Queen"

and inside says this ~

I found this little crown, and sent it as well....

At the flea market, I came across this darling vintage sugar spoon with a crown.....

As I long for winter to end, and Spring to appear in it's full glory, I can look at these glimpses of what is to come and make it through another day!

I know this has been a long, hard winter for so many. I have been filling my house with fresh flowers until I can make it out into the garden. I look around outside my house and there are signs that Spring is coming, and I cannot wait!

I Brake For Burros

My hubbie and I went out on a very romantic Valentine's Day date to the swap meet last week. (Yes, you did detect a note of sarcasm in my voice, as it truly is not a romantic destination!) Whilst wandering the booths, mostly filled with car parts and tools, I happened upon a most unsuspecting tent. Normally seeing the cardboard boxes brimming with wheel caps and screwdrivers, I would pass on by, thinking there surely was nothing buried in those for the lover of all things vintage and shabby. Out of the corner of my eye, what do I see, but a slight glimmer of something pink. Of course this is a sure sign that it must be investigated further. My hubbie, knee deep in sockets and wrenches, normally eager to move on to the next booth, seemed preoccupied enough to let me have a deeper look. And what before my eyes should I see? A little mini burro and his darling cart! A squeal of delight escaped before I could think, immediately alerting my husband to the fact that I once again had found something completely useless to spend our hard earned money on!

Oh, but how could I resist this little burro? Having our donkey has made me grow fond of these animals, and I have yet to find anything vintage and shabby honoring these darling little creatures! This may be my one and only chance for a vintage pink and blue burro! I gladly shelled out the single dollar to the carhart clad scruffy gentleman for his sweet little Knickerbocker burro.

Oh, there is romance at the swap meet after all!

America's Got Talent!

Have you ever watched that cheesy show, America's Got Talent, co-hosted by a half toasted David Hasselhoff? Well, if that show had talent like this, I guarantee a ratings boost!
